DIPPING IN DOTS

Hi! Happy Tuesday! The weather has been really hot lately so I had to dip into my summer wardrobe a little early and I found this polka dot halter dress. The dots are big but the flow of the dress makes it easier to appreciate the bigger dots. I accessorized with my large pink tote. I love that I can add a white blazer and some pumps for a more business look. However this day I paired it with my polka dots sandals for a more relaxed and fun look.

As the month is coming to an end I challenge you to review your financial goals. A quick way to do this is to total your income after taxes year to date and compare it to what you have saved year to date. A great rule of thumb for beginners is to save 10% of income or whatever you can save. The main objective is just to start the process to saving. If that number is on pace for your financial goal then great...If not you still have time to reduce spending or increase your income. You can speed up the time frame by doing both.

Well have a great week ahead and I thank you for your support! Blessings to you!

NOT SO PERFECT DRESS

Happy Friday! I have been hunting for the perfect shirt dress. ..then I was reminded that nothing is perfect you just have to find a way to bring out the best in everything. It is all about your mindset and how you choose to look at things in life. A positive outlook will always take you further in the right direction than a negative one.

Therefore, I took this not so perfect dress and removed the belt that came with it. I replaced the belt with a leather one..now this not so perfect dress was perfectly tailored for me. Have a wonderful blessed weekend! Thank you for reading and your continued support!

OLIVE & STRIPES

Happy Wednesday!! I know this is the season of pastels... but I love this navy & green combination. The best part is this top is silk and it is so versatile...with proper care you can save tons of MONEY with silk shirts because it can be worn:

FOR WORK: Silk tops pair perfectly under business suits, with slacks, skirts and blazers

AFTER WORK/DINNER: This is how I currently styled my shirt for dinner with heels and pencil skirt

ON CAMPUS: A silk top with jeans can elevate a school look when paired with  jeans

CASUAL OUTING: This top can easily be paired with cargo pants or shorts...add some flats for a super cute casual look

Now with all this versatility why wouldn't you add a cute silk top to your spring/summer wardrobe. Well as always thank you for your kind words and support.

BOLD TOP & FLARES

Hi! These flares  are great for the summer and very versatile.  I mostly pair them with a fitted top. However, there was something very attractive about this bold peplum top so I had to pair it together.

Wow! We are almost half way through 2016! Hope you are fighting to stay on pace for your financial goals!  Remember to look at your written goals everyday...we all need reminders of things that are most important to us. Therefore; place your goals in front of you so that there's no more worries about what's behind you. Good day and have a wonderful week!

IT'S ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU SEE

Happy Wednesday! I took these pictures while visiting the college I graduated from. Most people see college as a time to either have fun and get away from rules, some see it as a place to get the foundation to build their career, and others like myself see it as the first step in the process of living out your calling in life.

There are a few things you must identify when living the life you are called to live:

1. Who are you! I have changed over the years but one thing that has not changed is who I am and what I stand for. When you have values and care about helping others you can see life and all the work you do in a more loving and fulfilling way.  When you know who you are you will never trade your passion for a paycheck because your purpose is so much bigger.

2. You have to understand the true source of your calling. This understanding will push you to give every assignment your best..not to impress God but to show your appreciation for what gifts you have been blessed with.

3. Last identify how you can share this gift to be of service to others. Our gift becomes a true calling  when we can enjoy it and share that enjoyment in order to benefit others.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you're having a wonderful week!

BLACK ROMPER

Happy Monday! I purchased this romper almost 2 years ago and I was instantly attracted to it. It had all the things that I look for when investing in an outfit which is  the right fit and the right quality. I went with a versatile color because I wanted to be able to wear my blazers with it for business meetings. It does have a deep V neck so I just added a lace cami . This lace cami is so beautiful because the lace is embellished with sequins. I think this adds a hint of romance to the look. I apologize for not taking a picture of the back of this romper but it has the cutest back tie.

The red pumps were just a fun way to add a kiss of color and I love that these heels are super comfortable. I also have a neutral pair as well. The price is not expensive so that's always a plus to walk with no worries:).

I hope that you have a blessed week ahead. Thank you for stopping by and thanks for your support.

OFF TO COLLEGE

Happy Wednesday!  I remember when I was in college saying to myself "why doesn't college come with a manual?"  At age 15 I sure could have used some instructions. However, I am grateful that now I can share a few college tips:

-  Do an internship. A paid internship is always great; however, experience is what's most important. Therefore once you graduate college you'll have experience and you will have a competitive edge over other students.  Try to do your best on your internship they may decide to keep you as an employee throughout college. That's what happened to me which gave me a lot of experience working under a CPA and a much appreciated paycheck:)

-  Do not get a credit card  unless you have the income to pay the balance off every month.  Remember you do not want to start your life off in debt.  They will try and tell you that it's great to have a credit card to build your credit however if you can't pay it off then you will hurt your credit.

- Attend networking events and professional seminars at least once or twice a month. ... primarily events that are related to your major is a great way to learn how to connect with others. Professional seminars help to build your skillset and to learn how to market yourself better.

- Build a relationship immediately with your core professors. Do not wait until you have a problem to try and reach out to your professors. They are there to help make the transition from college to real world a little easier so utilize their expertise.

-  Last if you are working  a job then make sure that you save a percentage of your income. I know that is a little difficult when you are not earning a lot of income. However, $25 per month saved until retirement can possibly grow to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now that's worth skipping a few trips to McDonald's right? My discipline to start saving while in college made it easier for me to continue saving after college. Therefore, less than a year after graduating college I was able to build my first home.

Thank you for stopping by and as always I truly appreciate your kind words and support.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE: WRAP DRESS

Happy Monday! I love a simple wrap dress. I couldn't resist wearing my platforms because they pair well with many of my looks this spring.

In the spirit of keeping it simple I wanted to share my most simple rule in terms of finances which is "a percentage of your money earned belongs to you" This simple rule has taught me to place value on my money and how I spend it. When kids are taught this rule early in life it can help them learn how to manage money more wisely as well. When I look at statistics and I see that over 50 % of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck this is an indicator that some people may feel that money belongs to everyone else but not them.

A simple solution is to

1. Create a spending plan just to make sure your desires are not causing you to overspend

2. The first item on your spending plan should be the amount you pay yourself every time you earn income. 10% is a great number to start with. This amount should be set up to automatically draft into your pay yourself account.

3. Keep doing it! Your journey will not be easy but your reason for doing it should always be stronger.

Stay encouraged this week! Thank you so much for your support!
