Happy Wednesday! As I stand in my yard reflecting on how my beautiful trees have grown over these years, I couldn't help but think about how I have grown internally and financially. I am always motivated to share these things in hope that someone can use it to create their own financial destiny.
I wanted to share some more tips on owning things. I did a blog post a few months ago here on owning your home. I feel owning real estate is most important depending on where you are in life. Well today's topic is about some advantages to paying off a vehicle. Lets jump into it!
1. Owning and not owing on your vehicles feels great!! Of course, you will still have to pay maintenance, insurance and taxes but now you have for example $500-$600 in payments you can save monthly or $6000 per year of money to go in one of your buckets. Therefore if you have an emergency situation with your car that cost a lot of money then you can grab it from your bucket.. creating a less stressful situation and it will exempt you from that statistic of almost 60% of the people in America that don't have $500 put aside for an emergency.
2. Paying the vehicle off can save you interest. Let's say your payment is $515 then round up and pay $550 each month. This mind trick will save even more interest... If this is not possible then pay 1 big extra payment when you receive a bonus or tax refund. This can speed up the process as well. The more you save in interest the more you can drop into one of your buckets.
3. Only refinance if you can get a lower payment and your payoff date is not extended. If these two things do not happen then there's no reason to refinance because it's going to cost you a lot more in interest which means you end up paying way more then what the car is probably even worth.
4. Last, it will go from an asset on the lenders books to an asset on your books... Basically the value of the car will increase your net worth as the amount owed is paid off. I am a luxury car lover and I like that they tend to hold value over time a little better. However, luxury or not own it then save it in a bucket.
Thank you so much for reading and have a wonderful week!

DeleteStunning in all white! Love your off the shoulder top, so chic. More great tips, thanks for sharing. I'm just in the process of trying to decide what to do with my car. Buy or lease. Or just fix it even though it's an older vehicle. But save in the long wrong. 😣
