CLOSING IN ON THE HOLIDAYS

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.   I'm always concerned to hear when people get into debt during the holidays. This is supposed to be a joyous time however it's a stressful time for those that are not prepared.  I want to share a few tips that may make it a little bit easier as we transition into the holiday season.

1. Develop a budget for your entire holiday from decorations, traveling costs, and the gifts you plan to buy. This will definitely keep you from overspending.

2.  If you haven't already start shopping now. This is a great time to take advantage of the end of season sales.

3.  If you plan to use your credit card please make sure that whatever you charge you can pay that balance off right away. If you can't then I would guard against charging anything and resort to a cash system.

4.  Get your creative juices going and find other ways of giving. For example you can bake cookies or cakes, you can offer free babysitting, draw names with family and friends then set a spending limit, host a potluck, donate to shelters in need.  Remember that one of our greatest gifts is the gift of time.

5. Last challenge yourself to start saving now.  For example, if you have budgeted $1000 to spend then divide it by the 9 weeks left until December. Then start saving $111 every week until then. This will give you enough time at the beginning of December to do some holiday shopping or you can really challenge yourself financially by saving this cash to kick start your savings account for the upcoming  new year. However either way you will be less stressed and at your financial best!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed weekend.

DEVELOPING A MINDSET TO SAVE

Happy Wednesday! The first process to saving is to change your mindset. For most people they learned their money behavior from childhood. If you saw a lack of money or  an abundance of money then in most cases that's the person that you became. It takes a person with a strong mindset to erase 20 or 30 plus years of bad money principles and overcome it.  ..because you need to save money is not enough to change your mindset.  If that was enough then 60% of the people in America would not be living paycheck-to-paycheck.  You have to go deeper to find what you truly desire.

If you define desire then it is that strong feeling of wanting something. Therefore  to take it a step further it's that thing that moves you emotionally sometimes even to tears when you think about it.  It's that thing that pushes you to keep going even through the tough times.   The very thing that you spend time doing will attract your desires.  If  you are always consumed with what's happening on television, magazines , social media and the people around you then that will create your desires.  However those aren't true desires because they didn't surface from within you.  Only true desire comes from spending time self developing and understanding what you value for your life. Once you understand your values you will then place value on your money choices.

If you desire something bad enough you will change your habits. A few ways you can change your habits is by setting financial goals and give each goal a time frame.  When you give a goal a time frame you now give yourself something to reach for. All of this requires  preparing in advance. For example if you know you want to get out of debt then you must prepare  by making a decision to only spend on things you need and to not spend money without a spending plan.

Your desires, habits and  preparation will lead you to the discipline you need  to have a mindset of saving. Remember this is always something that you can pray about. I don't mean pray for money. I mean pray for your thoughts, pray for your mindset, and pray for a better heart towards your choices.

Thank you so much for reading my thoughts on developing a mindset to save and I pray that you have a wonderful and blessed week!

MY QUOTE OF THE DAY

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a beautiful weekend!   The mood definitely changes with a few well-chosen accessories added to a casual striped dress. I wore my gold metallic heels for some elegant height and piled on color and accessories like my lightweight scarf. This scarf is so perfect for those fall mornings or late evenings when it's just a nip of cool air. The stripe canvas really make the print in the scarf pop beautifully.

This leads me into my quote of the day. "  accessorize each new day with positivity, love and happiness so that you create a day that is worthy of you"

Have a wonderful and blessed week. Thank you for stopping by!

FRESH START

Happy Wednesday I pray that you are having a wonderful week I wanted to share some ways I get my day off to a fresh start. It does not matter to me whether it's Monday or Friday everyday deserves a fresh start! A fresh start is a day with no worries about yesterday and no stress about tomorrow just living and enjoying this present day. I'm not saying don't prepare for tomorrow just don't stress about it!!

I take about 5 minutes before I go to sleep and look over my calendar to make sure my  next day has been mapped out. Just  imagine  a leader or president without a planned agenda:) A disaster right? The most important hours on my calendar are from 5 to 9 a.m. I get the most important things accomplished during this time which allows me to have a fresh start and ending to my day!

The first thing I do is stay away from the television. I control how much news whether through TV or Internet that I invest in . This negativity can seep into your thoughts and control your attitude and course of your day. My mom once said " you will never know if the world is ending because you don't watch the news often" and I responded  "well at least I'll die a happy and positive person:)"

Next I invest a few minutes in building my faith through motivational messages and reading. All of this creates a positive space for me to then journal my thoughts and affirmations. Last I do some form of exercising because the way I see it exercising is like warming your body up so your entire day can run better. I often do my exercises along with my faith building messages at the same time...collapsing time frames and giving me that extra boost of "I can do it"!

Remember none of this can not work without desire. The desire you have helps build and  maintain your discipline and fight those undeserving emotions that try to lead you in the wrong direction. Thank you for reading and I pray that you continue having a blessed week!

LEADER OF THOUGHTS

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week! One of the biggest setbacks for most people is their thoughts. Our lives tend to move in the direction of our most dominant thoughts. We all experience negative situations at some point in our lives; however only positive thoughts can bring about positive solutions.

The reason I am so protective over my thoughts is because that is how negativity gains access to your life. You have to develop a barrier to negativity and that is called mental toughness. There are a few ways I protect my thoughts. I invest time daily into becoming better in the inside. It maybe a few minutes reading, praying or when I'm exercising I spend time listening to a positive motivating messages. I also write in my journal because that is my safe place to build my positive thoughts. I even carry around a mini journal so when I have free time throughout the day I can write down encouraging thoughts.  Whatever it is I'm obsessed with a good heart and healthy thoughts. The key to all of this is not only to learn it but to live it out in a positive way.

I constantly throughout the day literally stop and ask myself... "what are you thinking" If I discover that my current thoughts are not in line with where I want to go in life and the person I desire to be then I instantly replace that thought. This process keeps my most positive thoughts close to me and tells negativity there is no space available. Remember you have to inspect what you expect to happen in your life.

I pray this day is a blessed day for you !Thank you for stopping by!

CASH ACCOUNTS

Happy Thursday I hope you're having a blessed week! I wanted to share how to separate your cash accounts. When your cash accounts are organized and you understand most importantly why then you can make better financial decisions with less stress. Now, a simple alternative is to dump everything into one cash account but that makes it a little difficult to track your money. I believe when the dollars you are blessed with can be accounted for and assigned a purpose then your overall purpose becomes clearer.

The first account is what I call a revolving account. As money goes in it comes right back out. This cash account is setup to cover all your monthly bills. It should always be funded with enough to cover those expenses and a little extra for those months where expenses are a bit higher. You will know you need a second cash account when you have so much extra in this account with no purpose being served for it.

Therefore, the second account created is for those unexpected expenses. Things will happen unexpectedly because honestly that is just life.  The key is you have to make preparations for the unexpected in order to create expected results.  Have a goal of two to three thousand in it because you never want an unexpected car, home expense, or family emergency to drain your savings. Therefore this cash account is like a buffer to keep you from touching your longer term savings.

The last account is an overflow account. If all your bills are paid, the second account is fully funded for emergencies then whatever left over every month can pile up into this account. Over time you may decide to invest with this money in things that will allow your money to grow.

If you don't have these accounts currently in place then no worries you can start working towards that goal today. Remember " A mind that decides to change today can now make necessary changes everyday." Therefore every new day is an opportunity to change and grow.

Well thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a wonderful blessed weekend!
