I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. I'm always concerned to hear when people get into debt during the holidays. This is supposed to be a joyous time however it's a stressful time for those that are not prepared. I want to share a few tips that may make it a little bit easier as we transition into the holiday season.
1. Develop a budget for your entire holiday from decorations, traveling costs, and the gifts you plan to buy. This will definitely keep you from overspending.
2. If you haven't already start shopping now. This is a great time to take advantage of the end of season sales.
3. If you plan to use your credit card please make sure that whatever you charge you can pay that balance off right away. If you can't then I would guard against charging anything and resort to a cash system.
4. Get your creative juices going and find other ways of giving. For example you can bake cookies or cakes, you can offer free babysitting, draw names with family and friends then set a spending limit, host a potluck, donate to shelters in need. Remember that one of our greatest gifts is the gift of time.
5. Last challenge yourself to start saving now. For example, if you have budgeted $1000 to spend then divide it by the 9 weeks left until December. Then start saving $111 every week until then. This will give you enough time at the beginning of December to do some holiday shopping or you can really challenge yourself financially by saving this cash to kick start your savings account for the upcoming new year. However either way you will be less stressed and at your financial best!
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed weekend.

DeleteYou look amazing and gorgeous... I love the white gown inside. And the environment is complementing. Debt isn't a good platform for any one to swim in.. Its crippling but truth is most people will still always be in it even if they read all articles on debt.
ReplyDeleteIt takes courage, determination and discipline to cut expenses.
